Reviving the ancient Hindu temples under the ASI
Project Mahabharat
Its been centuries, in some cases at least 1000 years that our temples has been destroyed, desecrated by invaders. And its been more than 75 years after independence, and more than 4000 days ever since a new government with a refreshing mandate assumed power in Delhi. However our ancient temples remain in ruins.
These are major temples which has been built our ancestors and formed the spiritual foundation of our great nation. The revival of our nation and civilization will happen only with the revival of these ancient temples, as we awaken the Divine that will guide and guard us in the fight for Dharma.
And to focus on these ancient temples in ruins across Bharat, we are starting the Project Mahabharat, which is the next stage of the #ReclaimTemples movement. We will update you on all progress, just like we have done with our Kerala project.
Mapping of 3500+ monuments
We have completed the geolocation mapping of 3500+ monuments across Bharat. The google map for the same is available at reclaimtemples.com/ASImap
Temples under the control of Central government
Around 1500+ ancient Hindu temples are now under the control of Central government via the Archaeological Survey of India. The ASI on its part has banned even worship at many of these ancient temples and has deployed guards to prevent devotees from offering puja. These are illegal on part of ASI to restrict worship at Hindu temples. Proving this illegality and undertaking corrective measures, can happen via dialogue if government is supportive, else tremendous resources may be required for litigation and lobbying with the government. This we will know as we move ahead.
Hindus ideally don’t need any permission to pray or to offer worship at Hindu temples. Its a right granted by Indian constitution. And though we will undertake litigation for the right to worship to be enforced at these ancient temples, we will not wait for these litigations to end.
Worship at Elephanta cave temple, Mumbai
We have already performed Jal abhishek of the two Shivling at Elephanta caves, Mumbai which is an ancient Shiva temple where ASI has illegally banned worship. We will repeat this at temples across Bharat. We will take this to its logical conclusion.
The success of this movement will depend on a dedicated team working full time for the cause and the willingness of the Hindu society to support such efforts for revival of ancient temples. We would like to accelerate and finish this soon than lingering on this forever.
